    Help Loved Ones

    An Intervention is a Way to Help

     

    1. An intervention will clearly identify the problem, unite the family and offer an opportunity for treatment through an experienced and unbiased third party.


    2. A Family Dynamics meeting will take place prior to the intervention. A treatment facility will be selected that best suits the needs of the individual.
     

    3. Codependent behavior will be identified. Boundaries and an exit plan will be defined.

    Educating the Family

    1. It is essential for the support group to identify their role in the process before and after treatment.

     

    2. The purpose of this meeting is to avoid communication pitfalls and develop a life strategy that represents success but not codependency.

     

    3. Perspective and participation is a must for children, spouses and parents who are on the outside looking in. It is a common misconception that your loved ones will come out 'fixed' or 'like they used to be.'

     

    4. The support group needs to establish new benchmarks for themselves and do extensive evaluation regarding their future involvement both with the patient and as individuals.

    Bringing Parties Together

    1. I do not practice law. I mediate between loved ones, attorneys, Correctional Institutions and courts. This will save you time and money.

     

    2. An individual in treatment will need a voice to demonstrate what they have accomplished and have a plan moving forward. Court dates can be moved, in some cases charges reduced and a character witness provided.
